12 of the best, free Wordpress Themes. Part 1

When you are starting out a blog and you dont want to just have an average, run of the mill wordpress theme its difficult to scour through 30 different pages trying to find the BEST free wordpress themes. So I did the dirty work for you. Here is what I came up with..

Smashing Magazine has been doing quite a few free wordpress themes that are actually really freaking awesome themes that are both great looking and amazingly functional. Most of the themes they are releasing could easily be premium themes.

Next we are on to Woo Themes. I have purchased one of their premium themes and now they are running a permanent by one get one sale on all of their themes. Well they also recently switched a couple of them to free instead of paid themes, and these are the best of those:

This actually used to be a paid premium theme, one that I purchased last year. These them does look a little rough but if you are any good at graphic design at all you can make this into an amazing, very strong theme as its structure is still used by their premium themes.

Arthemia – Michael Jubel

This is the free version of his Arthemia Premium, but this one is almost as functional as the pay version even though I did purchase it to run my movie site. ItsNotYouItsScott.com is actually run on a hacked version of this theme so as you can see its very functional.
